For years WWE pushed Roman Reigns as a babyface, but unfortunately for Reigns his push wasn’t always well received. Last year Reigns made his surprise return at the SummerSlam pay-per-view, and shortly after he committed to a heel turn which has since been receiving a lot of praise.
Roman’s Tribal Chief persona has certainly created a lot of interest in his segments, and his promos have been noticeably different compared to the promos he used to cut as a face.
Recently the Universal Champion joined the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast and he revealed that he’s been cutting unscripted promos for some time now.
“There was a portion of my career where I’d either read a script or I would try to adjust a script as much as possible. For a while now, especially since I’ve come back from my little leave during the beginning of the pandemic since SummerSlam, I’m not scripted. I say what I want to. I say what I feel, and if it comes out of my mouth, it’s my verbiage. I come up with it. I deliver it, and that’s why it’s been the way it’s been because it’s mine.”
Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against John Cena at the SummerSlam pay-per-view on Saturday, August 21. Stay tuned for updates.
