Roman Reigns Returns On WWE SmackDown Season Premiere

SmackDown moved to the USA Network this week for the season premiere and Triple H made his way out at the beginning of the show. The Game welcomed everyone to SmackDown then he hyped up the Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The steel cage lowered and Solo Sikoa made his entrance first. Cody Rhodes entered to a big reaction from the crowd and he looked heated as he stood face to face with Solo Sikoa in the ring before the match kicked off.

Solo and Cody went back and forth for several minutes and Solo seemingly got the upper hand after throwing Cody into the cage several times. At one point Solo tried to powerbomb Cody, but Cody held onto the cage, jumped off and reversed the move into a Cody Cutter.

Cody and Solo both tried to climb the cage and Cody got to the top first. The American Nightmare slammed Solo’s face into the cage then got both legs over the top. However, Solo grabbed Cody and superplexed him back into the ring.

Solo Sikoa followed up with the Spinning Solo twice in a row, but Cody kicked out at two. Cody made a comeback with a Disaster Kick followed by a Cody Cutter. Solo kicked out at two then made a comeback and hit a splash off the top rope.

Cody tried to exit through the door. Solo stopped him and Cody countered with the Cross Rhodes only for Solo to kick out at two. The Undisputed WWE Champion climbed up to the top of the cage then hit a crossbody off the top onto Solo in the ring below. Solo kicked out at two. The fans chanted “this is awesome” as Cody crawled toward the door. Unfortunately for Cody, Solo slammed the door on him. Cody then followed up with another Cross Rhodes to put Solo away and retain his title.

After the match Cody signaled that he’s done with Solo Sikoa as he held the title up over his head. The Bloodline surrounded the ring and started climbing the cage.

Solo Sikoa took Cody out with the Samoan Spike as the rest of The Bloodline beat the champion down. Jacob Fatu hit Cody with a moonsault then climbed to the top of the cage. Fatu looked like he was about to his a splash, but Roman Reigns’ music hit.

Jacob Fatu climbed down as Roman Reigns made his entrance. Reigns entered the ring then closed the door. He took out Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa. Solo attacked Roman from behind and the momentum shifted. Roman managed to hit the Superman Punch then he went for the spear on Solo, but Jacob Fatu pulled Solo Sikoa out of the ring. Roman Reigns taunted Jacob Fatu as he called him into the ring. Jacob entered the cage and closed the door.

As Roman and Jacob stood face to face the fans chanted “OTC.” Solo pulled Jacob Fatu out of the ring then Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa attacked Roman. Cody Rhodes made the save as he took Tama Tonga out with the Cross Rhodes and Roman hit Tonga Loa with the spear.

Roman Reigns turned around to see Cody staring at him. The fans chanted “OTC” as Jacob Fatu placed the Ula Fala on Solo Sikoa outside the ring. Cody and Roman stared one another down.
