WWE has been advertising a triple main event for Hell in a Cell with three cell matches at this year’s pay-per-view. The show kicked off with the first of the three main events when Roman Reigns defended his WWE United States Championship against Rusev.
Reigns and Rusev battled back and forth both in and out of the ring, and after a while the crowd started to chant for tables, but they didn’t get their wish. Instead Rusev slammed the steel steps into the face of Roman Reigns.
Later in the match Reigns retaliated by striking Rusev with a kendo stick several times, but Rusev tied Roman up in the ropes and smashed the kendo stick to pieces. The momentum eventually shifted in Roman’s favor, and he hit a Superman Punch, but Rusev kicked out.
Outside the ring Rusev busted out a chain and wrapped it around his fist, then tried to punch Roman Reigns, but Roman countered. Back in the ring Rusev beat Roman down with the chain. Rusev placed Roman Reigns on steel steps, then applied the Accolade by wrapping a chain around Roman Reigns’ mouth.
Roman powered up, then placed Rusev on his shoulders and hit him with a Samoan Drop on the steps. Reigns then speared Rusev from the corner off the steps for the win.
