Roman Reigns kicked off Monday Night Raw this week, and he said that he’s been telling the fans that he’s going to be a fighting champion, but that’s a lie.
Roman said his real name is Joe, and he’s been living with leukemia for 11 years. He told the fans he was diagnosed with leukemia at 22 years old, and it went into remission, but it’s back.
He said that there was a time when he didn’t have anything, but WWE is the team that gave him a chance.
Roman thanked the fans for booing him and cheering him, and the fans chanted “thank you Roman.”
The former Universal Champions said that by no means is he retiring, and he plans to return to WWE when he’s done kicking leukemia’s ass, but for now he’s going home to focus on his family.
Then he left the title in the ring.
Roman made his way up the ramp as Ambrose and Rollins greeted him at the top. They embraced with tears and their eyes and then did The Shield fist bump before walking backstage.
