Samoa Joe shocked the world when he was called up to the main roster and inadvertently injured the Architect in the process. Raw this week opened with the official signing of Samoa Joe’s contract on the Raw brand, after a depressing montage of Rollins injuring his knee, that is.
Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon were in the ring as the broadcast opened and Mick almost reluctantly introduced Samoa Joe, and The Southsea Strangler came out in a suit. Looking quite dapper, Joe came got a formidable response and a few scattered “you sold out” chants. Stephanie re-introduced Joe with much more gusto to a chorus boos.
Steph questioned Mick as to why he was melancholy and Foley responded that he wasn’t happy about how Joe debuted or the “people he’s associating himself with.” Joe grabbed the microphone and started to cut a great promo about how it took him 18 years to get where he is.
Joe continued to say that Triple H gave him the opportunity and if it meant putting Seth Rollins on the shelf, then so be it. He then put the whole locker room on notice. He looked like he meant it, he said: “they destroyer has arrived and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Then Joe signed his contract just as Roman Reigns came to the ring. The girlfriend sat next to this writer on the couch and said, “are you going to put Roman Reigns on the shelf too, please?!” This writer is lucky.
Reigns said that Joe was making a lot of threats and asked him to threaten him, then he introduced himself to a mixed reaction at best. Then Roman name dropped the city he was in while asking whether or not he should do something about it.
Mick Foley jumped in and said as long as he’s general manager, then he’s making the matches. Foley then announced that Roman is going to face Joe tonight. The crowd popped big.
Looks like Joe is going to tangle with Roman.
