Roman Reigns is one of the most divisive figures in all of professional wrestling. Some people love him, while others seem to hate him, but regardless he always gets a reaction. However, some fans might have a tough time booing Roman Reigns, because he’s once again a member of The Shield.
During a recent media conference call, Roman Reigns commented on wrestlers who use ideas from the past such as the “Too Sweet” hand gesture of the DX crotch chop when he said the following:
“We don’t need guys running around doing ‘Too Sweets’ and we don’t need guys running around acting like they’re DX from 15 years ago. We need guys who are original characters, guys who are them. I need Seth Rollins to be Seth Rollins. I need Kevin Owens to be Kevin Owens. I need Bray Wyatt to be Bray Wyatt. We need original Superstars who have no clue what was done.”
His comments got a lot of people talking, and one fan tagged Roman in a post featuring several current WWE Superstars imitating DX.
Roman responded by saying he and his boys have beaten DX, so there’s no need to celebrate them.
The Shield scored a big victory over Road Dogg and Billy Gunn in a tag team match which also featured Kane at WrestleMania 30. Reigns also picked up a win over Triple H when he beat him in the main event of WrestleMania 32. So even though they haven’t beaten every member of DX, they’ve come pretty close.
But to be fair, we still don’t know if The Shield has what it takes to beat HBK, or X-Pac. Perhaps Roman Reigns fears the Bronco Buster. Perhaps we’ll never know.
