Rob Van Dam recently participated in a Q&A with Raw Events UK and he spoke about a possible WWE return and more. Some of the highlights recently aired on The Buzzards Wrestling Podcast and you can check out the full episode of the podcast here along with some highlights below.
If he thinks he’ll be inducted into the Hall of Fame: “A lot fans ask when they’re going to see me in the Hall of Fame. First off, it’s not up to me I have no inside information. Second off, Hunter, Triple H is the boss of WWE, I really can’t tell you if that’s in his vision. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not. I don’t think he’s ever seen me as someone that he thought should be pushed forward. I think every achievement I got was in spite of him, and people that think like him. I’m not the traditional stereotype that they’re looking for, and I get that. I’m not looking to do much more in wrestling, but at the same time, I don’t really see a big advantage in retiring yet.”
If he will return to WWE: “They got my number, they can make it worth my while, and if they don’t want to make it worth my while, it’s not going to happen. I did hear from them in October and they called me, they were interested in talking to me about Tables Ladders and Chairs coming up with The Dudley Boyz, and we talked, it didn’t work out. It wasn’t a real good time for me, and that affected the dollar amount that it would take to make it worth my while and that was the last talk we had. That probably left an impression on them which I’m totally fine with. I don’t know if you’re going to see it soon.”
Vince McMahon burying his spirit: “At first it was awesome, I had some outstanding matches with Bob Holly, Test, Sabu, amazing matches. And then yes, I saw the writing on the wall and when I saw that they were starting to add rules, and then make the Extreme Rules match only one match a night, of course that hurt. Yes I was very vocal at that point, and I talked to Vince a few times and I saw where he was going. I’d say, ‘Vince you’re killing what makes ECW cool, you’re turning it into a watered down version of SmackDown. You’re having Kane and all these different SmackDown and Raw wrestlers come to ECW.’ I thought ECW should always be extreme, but it got so watered down. I said Vince, ‘You can’t have rules, ECW means anything goes we’ve been saying that the whole time,’ and he’s like ‘Well Rob I need to have credibility in my referees.’ Who am I to argue with the guy about what’s better for a worldwide brand? But for sure I saw that he was burying the spirit of ECW, and he buried my spirit too.”
