It appears that WWE has been shaking things up in the creative department as Alexandra Williams recently announced that she has been promoted to VP and lead writer for WWE Monday Night Raw. Now it seems that a prominent figure is no longer with the company.
Bodyslam is reporting that Brian “Road Dogg” James has parted ways with WWE. Road Dogg had been working as the co-lead writer for Friday Night SmackDown over the last year.
PWInsider is also reporting that Road Dogg is done with the company and their report notes that the word making the rounds is that the WWE Hall of Famer made the decision to leave his position on the creative team.
Road Dogg originally started working with WWE as a performer in 1994, but left the company in 1995 before returning in 1996. He went on to become a prominent figure during the Attitude Era as one half of the New Age Outlaws alongside Billy Gunn and the duo went on to join D-Generation X in 1998.
He was released from WWE in 2001, but started returning for sporadic appearances in 2011 and eventually took on a producer role. The New Age Outlaws reunited in 2013 and went on to feud with teams such as Cody Rhodes and Goldust, The Usos and The Shield.
Throughout his run with the company Road Dogg managed to become a one time WWE Hardcore Champion, one time WWE Intercontinental Champion, six time WWE Tag Team Champion and a WWE Hall of Famer.
