Back in December of 2022, Charlotte Flair made her return to WWE programming and she quickly beat Ronda Rousey to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. A few weeks later Rhea Ripley won the women’s Royal Rumble match and she confirmed that she would be challenging Charlotte on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Since then Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley have been on a collision course and throughout their feud they’ve been playing up their history as they previously faced off at WrestleMania 36 when Charlotte defeated Rhea for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Both Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair have come a long way since then, and they faced off on the Grandest Stage of Them All for a second time when WrestleMania 39 aired live from SoFi Stadium on Saturday night.
Both women pulled out all the stops in an intense back and forth match with many near falls. The end of the match came when Rhea Ripley hit Charlotte Flair with Riptide from the top rope to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
