Madison Square Garden is considered to be WWE’s home in many respects, but it’s been rumored that other wrestling promotions have their eye on the venue and are looking to hold events at the world’s most famous arena.
Now The Business Journal is reporting that they spoke with Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. CEO Chris Ripley and he claimed Ring of Honor will be holding a show at Madison Square Garden in 2019.
Ripley also noted that ROH events are not starting to take place at bigger venues, and that Sinclair is looking to scale in terms of production quality for the promotion.
It was recently reported that Madison Square Garden officials have been unhappy with the fact that WWE didn’t book any of their WrestleMania 35 events at MSG, and that the company holds so many events at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
In addition to ROH, AAA is also said to be looking to hold an event at Madison Square Garden.
It appears that Madison Square Garden may be opening its doors to other wrestling promotions after catering specifically to WWE for several decades.
