Earlier this week WWE released ring announcer Greg Hamilton, real name Greg Hutson, according to PWInsider.com. Greg recently removed WWE from his Twitter bio and he also made the account private.
At this point the reason for his release has not been confirmed, but it’s worth noting that Hamilton recently took issue with rapper Westside Gunn using a sample of his voice on a song. The former WWE ring announcer called Gunn out, and threatened to “get WWE lawyers” to sue Gunn in an Instagram post which read:
“Well @westsidegunn @buffalokidsgallery let’s hope that since you STOLE my voice for your incoherent kindergarten fables,” he wrote. “that you saved up enough delivering for Door Dash….because….You….are….𤬒d. You’ll be paying me for years….apologize and I’ll think about not collecting every dime for the rest of your life….or I can just get WWE lawyers….that’s ok too. Settle with my lawyer. And don’t EVER use my voice again….so wrong.”
The post has since been deleted but screenshots can be seen below.
Hutson signed with WWE in 2015, and he went on to work in NXT and on Tough Enough. He joined the main roster in 2016 and was the ring announcer for Superstars and Main Event before he became the regular ring announcer for SmackDown. Stay tuned for updates.
