Last Saturday the very first episode of AEW Collision aired live from the United Center in Chicago and fans saw some very interesting returns. Not only did CM Punk make his long awaited return, but Miro and Andrade appeared on the show as well.
Andrade El Idolo had been out of action for months due to a torn pectoral, but he defeated Buddy Matthews in his first match back. Ric Flair commented on Andrade’s return match on his To Be The Man podcast, and he had some major praise for his son in law.
“What a match. Unbelievable. He stole it. I texted Tony. They stole it. I don’t know what direction he’s going in next, but man, it’s just gotta be positive for him. He reiterated the fact that he, it’s hard to say top five because there’s so many, but he is for sure in the top ten in terms of performers in our business, without a doubt. If I watch that match back, I say he’s in the top five. But man, they killed it. Buddy [Matthews] did a hell of a job as well. That whole new show, it had a whole new look. To me, it blows Dynamite away.”
The debut episode of AEW Collision on TNT managed to draw 832,000 viewers, so it will be interesting to see what the numbers are in the weeks to come. At this point it seems as if Andrade is being positioned to be a regular on the show.
