Ric Flair seems to be okay now but there was a very scary point during his most recent health crisis when fans were unsure how okay he could be.
The Nature Boy gave his first interview since his illness to People Magazine where he not only elaborated on how scary it got for a moment but how it will change his life forever. Ric Flair said he’s never drinking again after that near-death experience and it’s easy to see why.
After all, we’d all love to see Ric Flair live a lot longer and participate in so many more historic moments in professional wrestling. But more than that, we want him to be able to live a happy and productive life with his family and loved ones.
During his interview with People, Ric Flair admitted once the cameras turned off things often “got out of control” for him which had a lot to do with how he ended up in the situation he did.
He also explained some of the dangerous things he was able to survive during his life.
“I crashed in an airplane and broke my back, I’ve been hit by lightning […] But this is totally different. Anything I’ve been through before is nothing like this.”
Flair went on to talk about his recuperation and said it “scared the sh-t out of me” and also noted he’s “not out of the woods yet.”
Although Flair says he never drank while he was working he did admit that he let himself go as soon as he could.
“As soon as work was over, I went right to the mill,” Ric also said he has trouble doing anything in moderation as well but he did have his limitations.
“I’ve never taken a pain pill in my life,” Ric said. “I’d just take a shower, flip my hair back and go to the best bar in town.”
But at this point in his life, he’s not going to let this kind of thing affect him anymore as he made the solid decision to give up drinking for good.
“I’ll never drink again,” says Flair. “I never want to go through this again.”
