The Royal Rumble was a show that was stacked from top to bottom. AJ Styles kicked off the main show at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and he successfully defended his WWE Championship against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a two on one handicap match.
Later that night former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio made his return during the Royal Rumble match, and even though he didn’t win, he got a great response from the crowd.
Now everyone’s talking about a potential WWE return for Rey, and the door is said to be open if he wants to work with the company again.
The WWE roster has gone through some drastic changes since the last time Rey Mysterio was a part of it, and there are definitely quite a few dream matches that could be lined up for him if he’s interested.
It looks like Rey already has an opponent in mind, as he took to Instagram to tease a match with AJ Styles.
It wouldn’t be the first time that Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles have faced off, as the two stars previously clashed during a 5 Star Wrestling event just days before AJ’s debut at the Royal Rumble in 2016.
But there’s no denying that this match is worthy of being showcased on a big WWE pay-per-view, so hopefully WWE will be able to work out a deal with Rey Mysterio sooner rather than later.
