Dominik Mysterio has been part of the WWE main roster for a few years now and some would argue that he’s one of the best heels in the business right now. While Dominik has found success as a heel, he originally started out working as a babyface who teamed up with his legendary father Rey Mysterio.

While talking about the infamous heel turn on the Jaxxon podcast Rey Mysterio explained why he now thinks that the turn was the best thing that could have happened to Dominik.

“For my son to come in out of nowhere and not have my style, have a different build — he’s 6’1″, he’s about 190, so it was just … it was very hard for him at the beginning to try to adapt and find his role as a wrestler. The comparisons were … they were made and, of course, he couldn’t live up to it not until we separated and he continued on his own path without having his dad by his side and that was the best thing that could have ever happened to him.”

Dominik Mysterio is currently out of action and recently confirmed that he suffered a slight tear in his Tommy John ligament. The former SmackDown Tag Team Champion also noted that he’s expected to be out for another six to eight weeks.
