The Royal Rumble match is always one of the most anticipated matches of the year, and fans always look forward to seeing a few surprise entrants compete in the match.
NXT Champion Andrade “Cien” Almas was the first surprise entrant to make his way down to the ring, and he entered the match at number 7 after interrupting Elias who was playing a song in the middle of the ring after entering at number 6.
Tye Dillinger tried to make his way out at number 10, but after he failed to make his entrance, the cameras showed Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn beating him down backstage.
Kevin and Sami failed to defeat AJ Styles earlier in the night, and they argued over who would enter the Rumble, but Sami took Dillinger’s spot.
John Cena made his triumphant return at number 20, and former WWE Cruiserweight Champion The Hurricane made his surprise return at number 21.
Unfortunately for The Hurricane, he didn’t last very long as he was eliminated by Cena shortly after.
Adam Cole was the second NXT star to join the match, and he entered at number 23.
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio later made his surprise return at number 27 to a huge pop from the crowd.
Mysterio dominated the match for a brief period, and the crowd went wild as he hit The Miz with the 619.
Dolph Ziggler hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since he vacated the US Title a few weeks ago, but Dolph was the final surprise entrant and he entered the match at number 30.
Mysterio made it to the final 6, but he was eliminated by John Cena.
In the end it came down to Shinsuke Nakamura, Roman Reigns, Finn Balor and John Cena, and Nakamura eliminated Reigns to win it all.
