You just never know what’s going to happen in the world of professional wrestling nowadays, and fans are keeping their eyes on NJPW. It seems that some of the biggest stars the wrestling world has to offer are interested in working with New Japan, as Chris Jericho recently wrestled Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom, and now Rey Mysterio has entered the mix.
The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion made a surprise appearance via video at the NJPW New Beginnings event on Friday, and he challenged Jushin “Thunder” Liger to a match.
Mysterio challenged Liger to a match at the Strong Style Evolved event in Long Beach, CA on March 25th. Liger was working commentary for the event, and he accepted the challenge.
It appears that the match is now official.

Rey Mysterio has been a very hot topic as of late following his surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble.
He has openly said that he’s in talks with WWE about a potential return, but now it looks like fans may have to wait a little bit longer for his WWE return, if it happens at all, because he’s booked for at least one match with NJPW.
