The state of tag team wrestling is always in flux. Sometimes it seems like tag team wrestling is growing in popularity and then other times it seems like it’s undervalued by the major wrestling promotions. But one team has stayed consistent over the past few years and that team is The Revival.
Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder have made a name for themselves in NXT and they’ve helped to shift the perception of NXT from being a developmental territory to a full fledged brand under the WWE banner. Fans seem to love NXT and when the team recently spoke to the Orlando Sentinel Scott Dawson revealed what it is about the brand that he thinks makes it so intriguing
“NXT wears a lot of different hats,” Dawson said. “I believe developmental is one of those hats. We’ve got guys like Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli who came from the NFL. They are being developed and they’re doing a great job. Then there’s a guy like Shinsuke Nakamura, who’s done everything in the world. He’s there to help us build the brand. I think that’s what makes NXT so intriguing.”
Although many considered their match with DIY at NXT Takeover: Toronto to be one of the best matches of 2016, the team still has a lot to prove and it doesn’t sound like they’ll be slowing down anytime soon.
“We stay here in Orlando away from our families, grinding day in and day out to be the best. The Revival isn’t just a catchy name, we revived tag team wrestling. You ask anybody, ‘Who had the best tag team matches of the last 20 years?’ It’s the Revival.”
