You never know when you might see a familiar face return to WWE and in 2021 Eva Marie returned to TV. In the months that followed her return Eva Marie formed an alliance with Piper Niven who was known as Doudrop at the time, and instead of wrestling she had Doudrop fight her battles.
However, Eva Marie did step into the ring at the SummerSlam premium live event when she faced off against Alexa Bliss. During a recent interview with WrestleZone the former WWE star revealed that she was shocked by the SummerSlam match because she wasn’t supposed to wrestle.
“So basically what it really was, what it was supposed to be — giving you a little insight — is I really wasn’t supposed to wrestle as much as I wrestled.
“Obviously, performing at SummerSlam, it’s a live pay-per-view, but you’re in front of like 100,000 people. It doesn’t get much better than that. I’m not gonna lie, I was shocked that I had a SummerSlam match because I had just come back and wasn’t supposed to wrestle. So that was definitely kind of crazy.”
Eva Marie was released from WWE in November of 2021, but she has said that she’s in constant talks with the company and the door is always open for her to return.
