Back in 2020 WWE had to do everything they could to build up interesting feuds during the pandemic and Nia Jax was involved in a heated rivalry with Lana for some time. Nia Jax repeatedly put Lana through a table week after week, and Lana claimed during an appearance on Talk Is Jericho that there was originally supposed to be another table spot at Survivor Series in 2020 before Roman Reigns changed it.
“We were supposed to do this whole table spot on the show, and then Roman did not want that because he had a table spot with [Drew McIntyre]. There was some major pushback between the Samoans, Nia and Roman. I’m caught in the middle. We had a huge spot.”
Ultimately Roman Reigns ended up putting Drew McIntyre through a table when they faced off in the main event. During an appearance on the Ring The Belle podcast Nia Jax shared some more details on the original plans for her spot with Lana.
“We had this build up to Survivor Series and that was when she was actually supposed to put me through a table. It was supposed to be like, she ends up winning up somehow she puts me through a table before she gets the win. We built her like the ultimate babyface and I was a major Bully. But the creative changed certain things and so…”
When the host mentioned that they heard Roman Reigns was involved with the creative changes Nia Jax said, “Who even knows that [laughs]. I don’t know. You know things happen but what did was we made best out of what we were given and I am so proud of her because she sold that position and she did so well. I wish she put me though a table.”
Even though Lana didn’t get to do the table spot she still had a big night as she ended up being the sole survivor in the 5 on 5 women’s traditional Survivor Series match.
