Goldberg hasn’t wrestled a match since he was defeated by Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in 2022, but he’s made it clear that he’s not ready to hang up the boots just yet. The Hall of Famer has declared that he wants to wrestle in a retirement match, and it looks like an interesting opponent is ready to step up.
During a recent Signed By Superstars virtual signing Matt Riddle said that he would love to work with Goldberg while indicating that he thinks it would be good for business.
“You know, I don’t want to give too much, but I personally would love to work with William Goldberg, it would be a great match. I think I could get something out of him that people haven’t seen in years, and I think it’ll be great for business. I know it’ll be really good for me, but at the end of the day, if he wants to do it, he’ll do it, if he needs to do it, he’ll do it.”
Riddle went on to name AEW, TNA and NJPW as potential promotions who might be interested in airing such a match on their programming, but admitted that AEW would probably be the most likely place if it happens.
“There’s a couple of places we could do that. I would imagine, maybe at AEW, maybe at TNA, Maybe at New Japan. If it’s going to happen, it’ll probably be in AEW.”
It’s no big secret that Riddle and Goldberg haven’t always seen eye to eye in the past as Riddle previously criticized Goldberg. Only time will tell whether or not Goldberg has any interest in potentially facing Riddle. Stay tuned for updates.
