Reason Why John Cena’s Recent WWE Title Reign Only Lasted For Two Weeks

After winning his sixteenth WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, John Cena lost the title after only two weeks at the Elimination Chamber PPV. Bray Wyatt is now the WWE Champion heading into WrestleMania 33, but WWE booked the title that way for a very specific reason.

It’s being reported by CageSideSeats that WWE officials specifically wanted Cena to win the WWE Title from AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble because they wanted him to put over Bray Wyatt. In fact, it’s becoming clear that Cena was insistent on putting over Wyatt himself.

A lot of people have complained about Cena “burying” Wyatt’s momentum during their feud around WrestleMania 30. The WWE Universe will continue to debate about that, but it can’t be denied that John Cena put over Bray Wyatt well over the past week of WWE programming.

Not only did John Cena put over Wyatt, but AJ Styles did the same. Now, Randy Orton is helping to establish Bray Wyatt as a top guy in WWE. John Cena’s sixteenth WWE Title reign may not have been long, but it’ll be remembered as being a pivotal step in elevating Bray Wyatt to the upper echelon of the WWE ladder.
