AJ Styles will defend the WWE Championship against John Cena at the Royal Rumble this Sunday. There is a lot of speculation about who will walk out of San Antonio as the WWE Champion, especially with the way Cena and Styles have been advertised for the pay-per-view.

During this week’s edition of SmackDown and Talking Smack, The Phenomenal One shared his thoughts on the snub of being relegated to the back of the Royal Rumble poster while John Cena is front and center. AJ had the following to say about it during this week’s edition of Talking Smack:
“But you don’t understand, it’s what you’re saying without saying it. John Cena is important, AJ Styles is not! That’s basically what you said with that poster.”
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the reason why AJ Styles is complaining about the Royal Rumble poster and his position on SmackDown is because the plan is still for him to lose the WWE Title soon, and face Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33.
Eventually, AJ Styles will become fed up with his position after losing the WWE Title before WrestleMania, which will force him to prove his point against Shane McMahon personally. It won’t be the most technically sound match on the card, but it’ll have a great story.
