After weeks of speculation Randy Orton finally revealed the person he had been talking to on the phone and it turned out to be Pat McAfee. After McAfee attacked Cody Rhodes during the opening segment he went off on the current WWE product as he said that the business Cody Rhodes has been leading is terrible, and Randy Orton is going to save it.
Shortly after Cody Rhodes took to Twitter to apologize for the opening segment, and he announced that he would like to respond before the end of the show. When Rhodes made his way to the ring he cut a fiery promo as he compared Pat McAfee to Disco Inferno and it appears that the promo was not originally planned.

Bodyslam is reporting that Cody Rhodes was told by members of the creative team to go to the ring and shoot from the hip in response to Pat McAfee and TKO.
The American Nightmare’s promo was not listed on the internal rundown as it was not originally scheduled to take place prior to the reaction on social media. It’s being said that Cody Rhodes and other members of the creative team have legitimate gripes with TKO for sticking their nose in WWE storylines close to WrestleMania for multiple years in a row.
