Bayley was in the Staples Center and she was ready to hug some people. When The Hugger of Huggers got in the ring she was greeted by “you deserve it” chants. She talked about growing up in California, she got a little emotional and started talking about how she’s achieving her dream.
Bayley said her dad was in the crowd, but the camera never pointed out Papa Hugger. She really kept up that story about how she didn’t even know Sasha interfered in the match.
Stephanie McMahon’s music hit and the crowd immediately went from warm and welcoming to cold and annoyed.
Stephanie questioned the legitimacy of Bayley’s victory and implied that she didn’t earn her championship. She said that the Bayley she knows would do the right thing and relinquish the Raw Women’s Championship.
Bayley took off her belt and paused. She turned and looked at the capacity crowd and remained silent as Stephanie encouraged her to “be that hero” and give her belt back. Just as Bayley looked as though she was going to give it back, Sasha Banks came out to intervene.
Steph said that Bayley can’t do anything without Banks, and The Boss told her not to listen to McMahon-Helmsley. Banks told her to listen to the crowd instead, and Stephanie told Banks that she only wanted Bayley to keep the championship because she knows she can’t beat Charlotte.
Bayley then interrupted them both and said that the title is bigger than everyone involved, but she didn’t work hard to be champion just to have it handed to her. She said the championship should represent happiness and competition, not controversy.
Bayley then got fired up and said “Hell no, I’m not giving up the Raw Women’s Championship.” It was neat to hear Bayley swear like that.
Stephanie looked visibly annoyed, then Charlotte came out onto the ramp and apologized on behalf of the entire women’s division for Banks and Bayley being so disrespectful. Charlotte challenged Bayley at Fastlane to which Sasha said that Bayley was going to beat her there. Sasha then offered to fight her tonight because her knee was feeling better.
Charlotte said that when she’s done with Sasha, then The Boss will be in a wheelchair forever. That’s not really something to joke about.
Stephanie McMahon then booked Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks for the next match of the night.
