Raven Says Sometimes Suicide Is The Only Option

Chris Kanyon and Raven were very close during Christopher Klucsarits’ life. Kanyon was a member of Raven’s flock and the two continued with their friendship for years after that. Kanyon was surrounded by controversy and he was arguably one of the most underutilized talents in WCW and later WWE.

After Kanyon’s release from WWE he came out of the closet as a homosexual and said WWE fired him because he was gay. He would later take those statements about WWE firing him because of his sexuality back, but you can’t unring that kind of bell due to the gravity of those words.

The Innovator of Offense was diagnosed as bi-polar and he found himself routinely irreconcilably sad. Sadly, Kanyon died of a drug overdose in 2010 after weeks of threatening to commit suicide. When Kanyon’s brother found his body, it was indeed a sad day and while everybody was deeply troubled by this news, many in the professional wrestling world weren’t shocked because they saw it coming.

In the first episode of his new podcast, “The Raven Effect“, Raven discussed his friend’s death briefly.

“When I was younger, I used to think that people who committed suicide, it was a cheap way out, but knowing Kanyon like, he was so unbelievably sad that there was nothing that could ever have fixed that. And after that, I came to realize that suicide sometimes is the only option, at least it was for him […] he even started taking his medication which he hated. He was bi-polar and you know, he was so, so sad”.

Suicide is a very serious topic and we’re not getting into a moral discussion here, but these words from one of Kanyon’s closest friends in the business should give anyone comfort that was troubled by his untimely death.

We still remember Kanyon fondly and wish he was currently hitting that awesome diving leg drop and “Kanyon Cutter” to this day. But, at least he was finally able to find his own peace.

On that note, if you’re feeling down and are considering the unthinkable, please find a professional and seek out help. In reality, regardless of what Raven said there are other options. You have plenty to live for and people do care about you. Still Real To Us cares about you and just the fact you visit our site makes you awesome and intelligent, plenty more people care as well.
