The Intercontinental Championship will once again be defended at WrestleMania in a multi-man ladder match. It may not be the match that every fan wanted, but it’s the match we’re getting.
The good news is that this match is likely going to be awesome. There’s no way you can look at the names involved and not expect it to be fun. There’s going to be a lot of action and this thing will surely be a spectacle from start to finish.
There are 7 WWE Superstars in the match, but not all of them can walk away with the gold. Today we’re going to break down the chances of victory for each competitor and rank them from least to most likely. Let’s get right down to it.
#7 – Sin Cara
We all know what Sin Cara’s here for. He’s here to hit his high spots and hopefully provide some moments that will make your jaw drop. This match needs as many high flyers as it can get and Sin Cara was ripe for the picking.
His chances of victory are very low, but his chances of being involved in some of the more memorable spots in the match are very high.
How likely is it that he’ll win?: 1/10
#6 – Zack Ryder
That’s right, Zack Ryder is getting ranked on a list and he’s not in last place! Zack Ryder was placed in this match after Neville got injured on Raw. His inclusion seems random, but Ryder will actually make a great addition to the match.
Zack Ryder is a very crowd friendly wrestler and he knows how to engage an audience. WWE is probably going to start the main show with this match and they need a wrestler who’s going to be able to get the crowd pumped up. That’s something Zack Ryder can do and he can do it well.
We’re going to be hearing the words “WOO! WOO! WOO!” and we’re going to be seeing some fist pumping. But we probably aren’t going to be seeing Zack Ryder walk out of WrestleMania 32 with the Intercontinental Championship in hand.
How likely is it that he’ll win: 2/10
#5 – Stardust
It’s nice to see Stardust on the main card at WrestleMania 32, but there’s little reason to believe he’s winning championship gold here. Stardust is phenomenal in the ring and he’ll be a unique presence in this match. He just won’t be the one who wins.
How likely is it that he’ll win?: 4/10
#4 – The Miz
The Miz isn’t going to win the belt and he’s not going to hit any ridiculous spots that get people talking. The Miz is in the match for pure entertainment value.
The Miz is a storyteller and he’s going to be telling a story within a story here. He’s going to be scheming the entire match and waiting for his moment.
Although his chances of winning are low, there’s little doubt that The Miz is going to provide some much needed laughs here.
How likely is it that he’ll win?: 5/10
#3 – Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler is going to bring his A-game and he’s going to try and steal the show because that’s what he does. It’s safe to say that Dolph is going to deliver some solid action in this match, but will it be enough to carry him to another Intercontinental Title reign? Probably not.
Dolph Ziggler doesn’t have the best record when it comes to wins and losses at WrestleMania. He’s currently 1 – 5 and it doesn’t look like his win column is going to be improving this year. Dolph will likely become a 5 time Intercontinental Champion at some point, it’s just not going to happen at Mania.
How likely is it that he’ll win?: 6/10
#2 – Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens will be walking into this match as the champion. But will he be walking out with the belt? That’s the question.
Kevin Owens has had one hell of a run since making his debut on the main roster last year. He’s also done a great job holding the IC Title during his first two reigns. However we’re calling a championship loss for Owens at WrestleMania 32.
The belt is just better off with one of his rivals right now. Kevin Owens doesn’t need the title because he can get a reaction out of the crowd without it. He can get people to boo him in just about every city WWE travels to, and as long as he can get that done he’s golden with or without the belt.
How likely is it that he’ll win: 7/10
#1 – Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn has made quite the impact since returning to the main roster a few weeks ago. He’s been putting on great matches and he’s been getting a very positive response from the crowd. An Intercontinental Championship win at WrestleMania 32 is the perfect way to keep his momentum going.
The Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn feud has been an epic story and now it’s come to the main roster. All signs point to this feud being the focus of the Intercontinental Championship scene after Mania, and the best way to start the next chapter is to have Sami win the belt.
How likely is it that he’ll win?: 9/10
