Last month Randy Orton punched his ticket to WrestleMania last month when he won the men’s Elimination Chamber match. Cody Rhodes then solidified a Rhodes vs. Orton match last week on SmackDown when he defeated Drew McIntyre to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
During the main event segment on SmackDown this week, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes met in the middle of the ring to sign the contract for their Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania.
Cody showed respect to Randy Orton as he talked about how excited he was about the match. Orton seemed conflicted and told Cody that this was supposed to be easy, and he expected Drew to be sitting where Cody was.
As soon as Randy Orton signed the contract he slammed Cody’s head into table then kicked him below the belt. The Viper then took Rhodes to the outside and busted him open with the steel steps. Nick Aldis tried to stop him, but Orton shoved Aldis to the ground. Randy held nothing back as he pummeled Rhodes on the announce table.
He leaned the steel ring steps on the announce table and placed Cody’s head on top of them. A group of WWE officials came out and tried to break it up. Jelly Roll stepped in to try and stop Randy, but Orton shoved him to the ground. Orton seemed to have finally come to his senses after shoving Jelly Roll as he started to leave.
Jelly Roll and the WWE officials checked on Cody Rhodes as The Viper returned and hit Cody Rhodes with a steel chair while his head was still on the ring steps. Orton threw the chair in the ring, grabbed the Undisputed WWE Championship then sat down in the chair with the belt on his lap. The fans chanted “Randy” as Nick Aldis and the WWE officials checked on Cody Rhodes while the show went off the air.
