Sunday night at the Royal Rumble in San Antonio, TX, John Cena won his 16th WWE World Title. Randy Orton also won the Royal Rumble match, and now that we’re on the Road to WrestleMania it appears that the two rivals could possibly collide at the big event.
Randy Orton teamed up with Bray Wyatt to take on the team of Luke Harper and John Cena on SmackDown this week, and Orton was able to get the victory for his team after hitting Cena with the RKO. Orton and Cena know each other very well, and fans have seen the two stars face off more times than most would care to count, but if Orton gets his way the rivalry will continue. Renee Young asked Orton who he’s picking as a favorite to face at WrestleMania 33, and he named John Cena.
“If I know anyone, I know John Cena. I think whether the fans know it or not, they want to see that again.”
There’s no denying that John Cena has been on fire since returning to WWE, and Cena is out to prove that he still has a plenty of gas in the tank. However, Randy Orton noted that Cena’s momentum and his 16th World Title win don’t matter to him.
“I’m not nervous. I beat John tonight. Kudos to him. That’s a hell of an achievement, but that means nothing to me. I have 12 World Titles under my belt. Whether he has 1, 15 or 16, it doesn’t matter. I’m going to go out there and beat John.”
Although Orton seems confident that he could beat John Cena at WrestleMania 33, there’s still two month to go until the big event, and there’s no guarantee that John Cena will be walking out of the Elimination Chamber with his title in hand.
