It’s certainly not uncommon to see WWE stars appear in Marvel movies as names like Batista, Kevin Nash, Randy Savage and Triple H have appeared in some high profile films in the past. Randy Orton has also done some acting work from time to time, and he still auditions for roles. It looks Orton had his sights set on a big role a few years ago, but unfortunately it just didn’t work out.
Recently Orton spoke to Cody Rhodes on “What Do You Want To Talk About?” and he revealed that at one point he auditioned for the role of Cable in Deadpool 2, a character that was ultimately played by Josh Brolin.
“So I do auditions here and there. I remember I got an audition early on when I finally got some representation in that industry. I think Deadpool 2, Cable. I read for Cable and in my head I was gonna be Cable. I was gonna be Cable and I was like, this is it! Nope. No callback, no nothing. Josh Brolin gets it. Of course, Josh Brolin gets it. He kills it.
I don’t know what the f*** I’m doing, and I think I kind of realised then, okay, I can send in these auditions but I’m a pro wrestler, and I think I really enjoy being a pro wrestler and everything that it’s given me and I don’t think I’ll ever leave this place. [But] Cody, I’m happy about that.”
Even though Randy Orton didn’t land the role of Cable he still has a chance to add another big accomplishment to his resume as he’s set to challenge Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Bash In Berlin later this month.
