Money in the Bank gave fans plenty to talk about as Naomi and Seth Rollins won their respective Money in the Bank ladder matches, and Lyra Valkyria dropped the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Becky Lynch.
Cody Rhodes teamed with Jey Uso in his first match since WrestleMania to take on John Cena & Logan Paul, and the big tag team match main evented the show.
At one point Logan Paul tagged himself in and Cena made it clear he wasn’t happy about it. Cena immediately tagged back in then Logan Paul tagged back in. They argued and started shoving each other as Jey Uso made his way to the corner to get Cody in with the hot tag.
Cody hit the Crossrhodes on John Cena and Logan Paul tried to break up the pin with a splash off the top. However, Cody rolled out of the way and Logan Paul connected with the splash on Cena. Paul then stood up as Jey Uso took him down with a spear.
Later in the match Logan Paul connected with the Paulverizer on Cody Rhodes then went to the top rope. He called his drone to his hand, but Cody hopped up to the top and hit Logan Paul with a superplex. Jey Uso followed up with an Uso Splash.
John Cena got Jey Uso with the Attitude Adjustment then hit one on Cody for a two count. After Cody kicked out Cena cleared off both announce tables. He placed Cody on one of the announce tables then tried for another Attitude Adjustment. Cody got out of it as Jey Uso jumped from one table to the other and connected with a spear on Cena.
Jey Uso was resting on the table when Logan Paul went for a moonsault off the second rope to put Jey Uso through the announce table. The referee was distracted, so John Cena grabbed the WWE Championship and hit Cody in the head with it inside the ring. Suddenly someone wearing a hoodie and a mask popped out of nowhere and attacked Cena.
The person pulled off the mask and revealed themselves to be R-Truth who then hit Cena with the WWE Championship to take him out. Truth then exited the ring and left through the crowd. Cody Rhodes connected with the Crossrhodes on Cena to win the match.
Last week R-Truth took to social media to announce that he had been released from WWE, and it was later reported that the company had decided to let his contract expire. After the match Michael Cole acknowledged all of the reports about R-Truth’s contract status, and he also acknowledged the backlash from the fans regarding Truth’s status as Jey Uso and John Cena celebrated in the ring.
