It’s been a bad week for Seth Rollins folks. He hijacked the show when he called out Triple H during NXT Takeover: San Antonio, and he was later thrown out of the building by security, and banned from the Royal Rumble the next night.
Stephanie McMahon addressed Seth Rollins on Raw, and she revealed to Seth that Triple H was coming for him. At the end of Raw this week Triple H called Seth Rollins out, and it looked like Rollins was finally going to get some revenge, but he was ambushed.
Samoa Joe came out of nowhere and absolutely destroyed Rollins, and unfortunately Rollins was injured during the altercation.
WWE announced on Wednesday that Seth Rollins re-injured his knee, and Rollins traveled to Birmingham, Alabama to be examined. His current status is unknown, but at this point it sounds like WWE officials are preparing for the worst.
Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that WWE officials held a creative meeting today to discuss alternate plans for Triple H’s match at WrestleMania. Seth Rollins vs. Triple H was one of the matches that was said to be “locked in” for WrestleMania 33, but obviously it’s not going to happen if Seth Rollins isn’t physically able to compete at the big event.
One of the other ideas that’s reportedly being considered is a match that would pit Triple H against Samoa Joe at WrestleMania 33.
Original plans for Samoa Joe called for him to wrestle John Cena at WrestleMania before he was brought to Raw, and moving Joe to SmackDown so that he can kick off a feud with Cena was one of the ideas that was also reportedly discussed at the meeting.
At this point everything depends on Seth’s status going forward.
It would certainly be a shame if an injury ends up preventing Seth Rollins from performing at WrestleMania for the second year in a row. Until then we’ll all just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope that The Architect gets his chance to “slay the king” in Orlando.
We’re officially on the Road to WrestleMania, but is it off to a rocky start? On this week’s episode of Still Real Radio we’re talking about what’s to come over the next few weeks and more.
