SummerSlam is WWE’s Biggest Party Of The Summer. The road is so hot you could fry an egg on it while we trek toward Brooklyn and WWE is finally figuring out the card. Bayley defeated Sasha Banks on Raw last night in clean fashion to become the new #1 contender for Alexa Bliss’ Raw Women’s Championship.
After the match was over Bayley looked tired but ready to take on Bliss. As the Five Feet Of Fury raised her title belt above her own head, Bayley got a good look as it was eye-level to her. Dave Meltzer discussed the latest development on Wrestling Observer Radio where he said this was an interesting situation to say the least.
It was noted how weird it was that after their match Sasha looked very upset in the corner, but as soon as Alexa Bliss made her way the ring The Boss vanished. Even though WWE might be trying to give Bayley more credibility, they’ve still got a lot of work to do in regards to making her look strong again.
“Now they’re trying to rehab [Bayley]” Meltzer said. “But they already did the damage. You know that run after WrestleMania was just a killer for her.”
“It’s interesting because you know when it came down to Banks and Bayley it was very clear that Banks was the more over of the two […] The point is that Banks was the more over of the two but Bayley’s the one getting a title shot at SummerSlam.”
“I wonder if Bayley’s gonna win” Dave concluded. “Bliss has beat her a bunch of times and it feels like they’re going with Bayley and Banks as the program with Banks as the heel. So that would actually make sense for Bayley to win but we’ll see.”
Bryan Alvarez noted WWE could always book Sasha Banks to come down and screw Bayley out of the win at SummerSlam. If WWE went with that finish it could mean Alexa Bliss might be free to move onto a program with Nia Jax next with her title still in tow. But there’s always a big possibility Bayley could pull off another victory in Brooklyn.
