The Rock played a big role on the road to WrestleMania this year as he made a number of appearances on WWE programming leading up to the big event. The Final Boss also made an appearance on the Raw after WrestleMania when he confronted Cody Rhodes and told The American Nightmare that their story is just beginning. It seems that Rock and Rhodes are on a collision course, but so far neither The Rock nor WWE have made any announcements regarding plans for The Final Boss to return.
During a recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, Cody Rhodes talked about what the future looks like for him and The Rock while noting that he hopes The Final Boss will be back sometime within the next year.
“The Rock told me he’d see me when he comes back. My head has been on a swivel everyday since the day after WrestleMania, for the Final Boss, as the Rock goes by now, for when his music hits. I’ll be in the same spot I was and I’ll be ready for him.”
“If he comes in any bit like he did for WrestleMania, he’ll be doing the whole ‘oh I finally got off, I’ve been so busy’, dude was on like a three month training camp, he was dialed in, so I will be dialed in myself.”
“If I could give you a guess, I feel like, I hope it happens in the next year.”
While nothing has been officially announced it’s been rumored that The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes is one of the matches being considered for WrestleMania 41. Obviously a lot can change before WrestleMania next year, so it will be interesting to see how things play out.
