For months now it’s been rumored that Braun Strowman would be challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam, but it was recently reported that plans are up in the air, and WWE officials are considering booking Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar for the event.
Sportskeeda is now reporting that Braun Strowman is set to defeat Roman Reigns in the Ambulance Match on Sunday night at Great Balls of Fire, and he will reportedly go on to challenge Lesnar for the title at SummerSlam.
Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar has been the plan for the WrestleMania 34 main event for months now, which is why some fans were surprised to see that the match might get moved up to SummerSlam.
However, Sportskeeda is claiming that the idea to move the match up was never on the table, as a source in WWE reportedly told them the following: “nobody would even pitch changing that. We’ve known about that since last March. It’s the one thing the old man (Vince McMahon) has set in stone and not one person would even waste any time pitching, just to be shot down in a creative meeting. It is what it is.”
