WrestleMania has come and gone and now it seems that WWE will be shuffling the deck once again with another draft. Fightful Select is reporting that WWE has been setting the stage for main roster stars to move to NXT in the upcoming draft as there’s a renewed focus on making NXT the third brand again.
It’s also being reported that Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov are said to be a lock for the main roster in the upcoming draft. The status of Roxanne Perez is said to be up in the air regarding a potential call-up. Tony D’Angelo’s Family and Baron Corbin have also been discussed for a possible move to Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown.
As far as the timing of the draft goes it’s being reported that WWE scheduled the event for the same week as the NFL draft as a way to capitalize on “draft fever.” WWE is accepting input from media partners such as CW and Netflix, but with the Netflix deal being closer to next year’s draft one WWE source said, “that won’t be something we need to worry about for a while.”
The 2024 WWE Draft will kick off on the April 26th episode of Friday Night SmackDown and will continue on the following episode of Monday Night Raw on April 29th.
Stay tuned for updates.
