Big E has been out of action for over a year now and he’s currently recovering from a broken neck that he suffered during a match on SmackDown. There’s currently no word on when he could return, but it seems that plans are already being discussed for his return.
This week on Friday Night SmackDown, Xavier Woods faced off against Gunther, but unfortunately for Woods it was Gunther who picked up the win. Nevertheless the feud between the two may be far from over.
The WRKD Wrestling account is reporting that one idea that was pitched would see The New Day feud with Imperium once Big E is fully healed. It’s being said that Big E vs. Gunther would be the centerpiece for the feud.
Despite a loss to Gunther on #Smackdown, one long term backstage pitch has seen Xavier Woods and a fully healed Big E and Kofi Kingston feuding with Imperium once the New Day are ready to return.

Big E recently commented on the status of his neck during an interview when he said, “It’s just a complicated fracture. I broke my C1 and C2 in two places, a Jefferson fracture is what it’s called. It just takes a little more time to heal. We just did the one year scans after WrestleMania, it was a little later because of WrestleMania. We need to sit down with the doctors at some point and figure out what the next step is. From my perspective, I feel great, I have no function issues, no pain issues, I’ve been in the gym since two weeks after I broke my neck. I’m feeling great. Obviously, your neck has to be in a certain condition to deal with the rigors of being in the ring on a nightly basis.”
Stay tuned for more updates on Big E’s return as they become available.
