Sting decided to call it a career on Sunday night and he went out with a bang when he competed in the main event at AEW Revolution. The Young Bucks challenged Sting & Darby Allin for the AEW Tag Team Titles in Sting’s final match, and in the end it was Sting & Darby who walked out with the gold.
Fightful Select is reporting that the situation with the AEW Tag Team Titles will be cleared up fairly soon. At this point in time it’s not expected that Darby Allin will be keeping the titles with a different partner. Even though The Young Bucks didn’t win on Sunday night the plan is for them to remain near the title picture.
Tony Khan and All Elite Wrestling were reportedly adamant that Sting should go out on top as a champion. Honoring Sting appropriately was said to have been important to AEW management.
It’s also being said that Sting main eventing AEW Revolution was the plan from virtually the moment he announced his plan to retire at the pay-per-view.
