The Royal Rumble is quickly approaching and once the event wraps up we will officially be on the road to WrestleMania. The WWE roster is loaded with star power at the moment which has created a lot of speculation regarding who will be in the top matches at WWE’s Show of Shows.
CM Punk returned to WWE back in November of 2023 and WWE has seemingly teased that Punk could potentially challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins is the confirmed plan for WrestleMania 40.
Seth Rollins successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Jinder Mahal on Monday Night Raw this week, but he unfortunately suffered an injury in the process. Rollins was then pulled weekend live events.
Following the match Rollins was able to walk backstage, but was limping. The last word on the injury is that Seth Rollins would be getting a MRI and the severity of the injury is unknown.
Right now it’s not clear if Seth Rollins will have to miss an extended period of time in the ring, but obviously if that is the case his status will likely have an impact on WWE’s plans for Rollins vs. Punk at WrestleMania. However, it seems that the company is ready to move forward with this marquee match if Seth is ready to go.
