This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown is set to air live from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL and there’s a lot of anticipation heading into the show. It’s rumored that AJ Lee could be returning, and it was also recently reported that Friday’s episode could be John Cena’s final appearance on SmackDown. Now it seems that another major name might be appearing on the show.
Fightful Select is reporting that Brock Lesnar is scheduled to travel to Chicago this week where SmackDown is set to take place. According to the report WWE sources have said that he was discussed as a possibility for the show.
As of this writing the match has not been officially announced just yet, but John Cena is scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at the WrestlePalooza premium live event on September 20th. It’s being said that WWE intentionally hoped to load up this week’s episode of SmackDown ahead of WrestlePalooza. The word going around is that Lesnar was scheduled to be in Chicago on Thursday.
Brock Lesnar last appeared on WWE programming when he made his shocking return at SummerSlam after Cody Rhodes defeated John Cena in the night 2 main event. After the match Lesnar hit Cena with the F5 as the show went off the air.
One way or another it seems that we’re getting closer to witnessing the next Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena match, which will be their first one on one match since 2014.
