After John Cena was eliminated from the Royal Rumble earlier this year he made it clear that he was on a quest to win his 17th world championship. Cena secured a title shot when he won the Elimination Chamber match and he went on to become Undisputed WWE Champion when he defeated Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41.
It’s no big secret that John Cena is set to retire at the end of this year which has led to a lot of speculation regarding when Cena could be dropping his championship.
Fightful Select is reporting that those they spoke to claimed that current plans called for John Cena’s Undisputed WWE Championship reign to continue into the summer.
John Cena successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at Backlash on Saturday night. R-Truth ended up interfering in the match when he prevented Orton from hitting the punt on Cena. The Undisputed WWE Champion then hit Randy with the belt and pinned him to retain the title.
Following Backlash, John Cena spoke at the post-show press conference and he was interrupted by R-Truth. Cena responded by hitting Truth with the Attitude Adjustment and putting him through a table at the press conference.
