Nowadays you never know who might return to WWE as the company has brought back a number of wrestlers who were released over the last few years. Former Raw Tag Team Champions Authors of Pain were released in 2020, but Fightful reported a few months ago that the duo quietly signed a deal with WWE in 2022.
Fightful Select is now reporting that the Authors of Pain are currently planned to return to TV soon. As of right now the working plan is for the team to appear on the Friday Night SmackDown brand, but plans could always change. People who spoke on the potential return noted that Paul Ellering is expected to join AOP when they returned to television.
Authors of Pain first debuted with the NXT brand in 2016 and they went on to become the NXT Tag Team Champions. In 2018 they were called up to the main roster. AOP went on to win the Raw Tag Team Championship and eventually formed an alliance with Seth Rollins.
Unfortunately their momentum was halted in March of 2020 when Rezar suffered an injury. After spending a few months on the sidelines Akam and Rezar were both released due to budget cuts in September of 2020, but now it seems that they could potentially be back on TV soon.
Stay tuned for more updates on AOP’s return as they become available.
