PWInsider is reporting that the injury Rey Mysterio suffered on Friday Night SmackDown was 100% legitimate. At this point in time there’s currently no word on how WWE plans to handle the situation involving Mysterio’s planned WrestleMania match with El Grande Americano.
If Rey Mysterio is unable to compete on the Grandest Stage of Them All then it’s possible that he could be replaced by another wrestler such as Dragon Lee or Rey Fenix.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer also shared an update and noted that Dragon Lee is likely to be Rey Mysterio’s replacement if he can’t wrestle on Saturday night.
“I am told still no word on Rey Mysterio, but Dragon Lee is the likely replacement if he can’t wrestle. They could do Fenix, but my presumption is el Grande needs to win the first match and they probably wouldn’t want to beat Fenix so early,” Alvarez wrote.
As of this writing WWE is still advertising Rey Mysterio vs. El Grande Americano for night 1 of WrestleMania. Stay tuned for more updates on Rey Mysterio’s status as they become available.
