Rhea Ripley earned the right to challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank, but this week Belair announced on Raw that Rhea Ripley has been pulled from the title match because she’s not medically cleared to compete.
Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Carmella, Becky Lynch and Asuka then faced off in a fatal five way, and Carmella earned the title shot when she picked up the win.
WWE did not confirm any details regarding why Rhea Ripley isn’t cleared, but during a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated on the reasons why Ripley was pulled from the match.
“I don’t know what the situation is but I’ve asked around but nobody seems to know what the exact thing is. The usual suspects when they don’t say something is COVID and concussion and in both cases, you would most likely be back by July the 2nd.”
“COVID very likely back and concussion, it varies and everything like that but you wouldn’t adamantly say they won’t be back. So it could be an injury, no details at this moment, it will probably come out tomorrow I’m gonna guess.”
Money in the Bank will air live on Saturday, July 2nd. Stay tuned for more updates on Rhea Ripley as they become available.
