Lars Sullivan has been on the receiving end of some major backlash as of late after offensive comments he made on a Bodybuilding.com message board years ago resurfaced online.
Sullivan recently released a statement responding to the backlash which reads as follows:
“There is no excuse for the inappropriate remarks that I made years ago. They do not reflect my personal beliefs nor who I am today, and I apologize to anyone I offended.”
His statement did little to quell the backlash, so WWE responded by fining Sullivan $100,000.
In the past WWE has dealt with similar issues in a very different manner, as Hulk Hogan was immediately fired when leaked audio of him making racist comments surfaced online a few years ago.
When asked why WWE didn’t fire Lars Sullivan, Mike Johnson of PWInsider speculated that the company likely doesn’t want to give another promotion the chance to sign him, which is why he was fined instead.
Do you think WWE made the right move fining Lars? Sound off in the comments below.
