Last year AJ Styles went one on one with Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, and even though Styles didn’t pick up the victory, their match was one of the most talked about matches on the card when the show was over.
Originally AJ Styles was set to face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series again on Sunday, but this Tuesday on SmackDown Live he dropped the WWE Championship to Daniel Bryan, and lost his spot in the match.
Now it will be Daniel Bryan who goes on to face The Beast Incarnate at Survivor Series.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that it’s speculated Vince McMahon changed the match because he didn’t want AJ to lose to Brock Lesnar two years in a row, and he didn’t want to put Styles over Lesnar.
With Brock Lesnar facing Daniel Bryan on Sunday, Lesnar seems to be the favorite to win the match, but there’s also speculation that if Bryan does pull out a win it will likely be due to interference from Braun Strowman.
