Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles finally had their big standoff at WrestleMania and the match ended quite suddenly. It’s not like they didn’t have time to work because the two were allowed to do plenty in the ring. But when Nakamura didn’t kick out after the Styles Clash a lot of people were left wondering what was going on.
It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio how people in the crowd were somewhat distracted during the WWE Championship match because there were three guys who wouldn’t sit down in the crowd. People behind them kept yelling for them to sit down and security told them to which they didn’t. So the police had to drag the people away for not sitting down and the crowd chanted “you deserve it” and “you f-cked up” at them during the match.
This distraction only added to the stress that the crowd was dealing with as they watched two babyfaces try and beat each other up. Everyone wanted a great match and although it was pretty good it’s likely just the start of something more.
“We’ll see how the heel thing works, I’m not against experimentation of it,” Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio referring to Nakamura’s heel turn. “The thing on this is it felt like when he turned that there was a big cheer and then there was some booing and when he left it felt like the cheered again like they were happy they got to see an angle.”
It was also noted that Shinsuke Nakamura could very well win the WWE Championship after this because the story is obviously not over between the two of them. It would make much more sense for someone like AJ or Daniel Bryan to chase a heel champion so that could be why WWE decided to have Shinsuke Nakamura turn heel because since Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are apparently still fired from SmackDown Live the Blue Brand needs new top heels.
