WrestleMania 34 was a long show, and fans expected Roman Reigns to walk out with the Universal Championship by the time it was through, but instead Brock Lesnar retained.
WWE later confirmed that Brock Lesnar signed a new deal with the company, and he will be defending his title against Roman Reigns once again inside of a steel cage at the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27.
Jeremy Botter is reporting that Vince McMahon called an audible and decided to have Brock retain the belt at WrestleMania because Roman Reigns wasn’t getting over.
One idea that’s rumored to be on the table is for Roman Reigns to win the Universal Championship in Saudi Arabia where he will hopefully receive a more favorable reaction that the one he received at WrestleMania 34.
The exact length of Brock Lesnar’s deal seems to be unconfirmed at this time with Sporting News reporting that he signed a multi-year contract, and other outlets reporting that he only signed a short term deal.
Either way, it doesn’t look like WWE plans to give up on the massive push that Roman Reigns has been receiving just yet.
