Roman Reigns took on Braun Strowman inside a steel cage last night on Raw, whilst the other members of The Shield were banned from ringside. Kane then shockingly invaded the match and targeted Reigns, before Braun hit the running powerslam for the win, which means that The Shield will now go into a 5-on-3 handicap match.
Kane’s shocking return is not thought to just be a random appearance, according to WrestlingInc there’s speculation that Kane’s return is to avenge the loss that his brother experienced at WrestleMania at the hands of Reigns a few months ago.
It seems that Kane’s addition to the match at TLC could be so that it can later set up a storyline that will lead to The Undertaker’s return. There’s also speculation that The Undertaker could align himself with The Shield for a match at Survivor Series.
Whether his return will happen at Undertaker’s favorite event, Survivor Series in just over a month’s time, or this will be a lengthy feud over the next few months is still unknown, but it does explain why The Big Red Machine set his sights on Reigns last night.
A storyline with his brother that could lead to both men’s official retirement could be a much more satisfying way for The Brothers of Destruction to leave the company if that is what WWE has planned.
Kane has been officially added to the match following his mid-match attack, which means that The Shield will have a mountain to climb at TLC as they take on Braun Strowman, The Miz, Kane, Cesaro and Sheamus in a traditional TLC match that will main event the show.
