Survivor Series aired on the WWE Network on Sunday, and the event featured a few big moments that got a lot of people talking. Raw and SmackDown Live dealt with the fallout from the big event, but the shows also featured a few big moments of their own, as Raw and SmackDown both saw some fresh faces from NXT debut on the main roster.
Paige returned on Monday and brought Sonya Deville and Ruby Riot along with her, and Tuesday night on SmackDown, NXT stars Liv Morgan, Ruby Riot and Sara Logan debuted.
It’s interesting to note that no male wrestlers were called up this week, and both Raw and SmackDown seem to have an influx of talent in the women’s division. However, as we’ve seen in the past, the title scene can get crowded in the women’s division on Monday and Tuesday nights.
With so many new competitors on Raw and SmackDown, could WWE officials be getting ready to finally introduce tag team titles for the women’s division?
The idea of introducing women’s tag team titles has been discussed for quite some time, and, a few weeks ago during a Q&A session at an event in Paris, Lita confirmed that there have been talks of introducing tag team titles in the division.
“There have been talks of tag titles for the Women’s Division and I think that I love that they first introduced the MITB briefcase, that’s been a long time coming and that adds an element of surprise within the title picture.”
She also went on to say that if WWE does introduce the belts, she hopes to see some of the women from NXT get called up, which is interesting because that’s exactly what just happened.
“I would love to see these rumoured tag titles appear sooner than later, but for that to happen, I hope they bring up these women that are already at NXT or some women they’ve seen on the Mae Young Classic and expand the roster.”
The women’s division has come a long way, this year the ladies of SmackDown competed in the first ever women’s Money In The Bank ladder match, and it’s rumored that WWE officials are considering giving the women their own Royal Rumble next year.
Now seems like the perfect time to introduce tag team belts, as it would open up more opportunities for the stars of the women’s division to shine.
Whether or not it will end up happening remains to be seen, but the idea of tag team titles in the women’s division seems like an idea that the fans would embrace right now.
